This is due to Home Office sending letters by 2nd Class, but I received my Home Office letter today, a day after the invitation from council. My council sent me an invitation on the 13th by first class, where as Home Office sent it on the 10th by second class.

Are you aware that HO do contact your local council [or the one you specify on application form] once the approval is issued. Of course they also send you an approval letter at the same time. If your council uses a quicker postal method than HO [second class royal mail], it's possible you'll receive council invitation letter before the HO approval letter turns up.

Alternatively you can also contact the council to arrange a ceremony date once you have the approval letter etc.

You need HO ref number, DOB, Full Name and nationality.
Selecting option 2 just disconnects with a statment that all our officers are busy, please try later ? I have been trying since morning ? Any idea what number to call ?

@alex_shvjac
We sent originals for both my husband and daughter (in separate applications) and the documents arrived a couple of days before the approval letter. It seems to have been the case for several other forum users who also applied directly via post.
I seem to remember that you requested and received your original documents some time ago -- did you have to send them again to the HO? I am interested because I requested my passport back on Friday.
I wish you all the best!

@majamcr

Thanks for your reply, mate! I didn't expect this to be so quick ;)

Right, I sent the originals on 17/01/2014, then requested the return of the passport and the biometric card 2-3 weeks ago (sorry do not remember the exact day). The passport and card arrived 5 working days after the request, accompanied with the letter that they are thanking me for the application blah-blah-blah.

Today I received the same letter but together with the other originals, like B1 certificate, etc.

Therefore, I was asking how long it takes between the return and the decision.

UPDATE: as I was typing this message the email came through:

"Dear Alexander,

Thank you for your email.

We have checked our records and can confirm that no decision has yet been made on your application."

What is going on...

Hi everyone on this forum. I sent an email earlier today on 17/03/14 to HO (nationalityhelpdesk@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk) asking status of my application and they replied the same day:

"I have checked our records and a decision has been made on this application, the decision letter and any supporting documents will be with you shortly".

What does this mean? Does it mean its an approval? I applied on 16/01/2014 using NCS
Thanks
