@Nyamabeye I went to Uni face to face meeting yesterday and still insisted that with I will be charged “ overseas fee “ and I agreed that I would pay the remaining balance after they deduct approved student student loan £9,250. They now went again to check how much difference I need to balance and on return they changed their mind that I will not be allowed to study the course again because I am not home student because I am still a foreign student that are not allow to study any medical course and they now informed me they will likely withdraw the offer from me.
Please what did you suggest I should do?
This is upsetting to hear. It's usually that most of the courses that require placement with the NHS are unavailable to foreign students, like nursing, medicine, social work etc. This is because the placements are paid to have students. I know this because when I enrolled at my Uni in 2012, my course was not available to foreign students and so were other courses as we had to do placements.
Recently some Unis have opened up these courses to foreign students but not all Unis.
How many years will it take to complete the course?
What you have to factor in is if you were allowed to continue, will it be sustainable for you to cover the fees for the duration of the course?
Also with the uncertainies around the Zambrano decisions, it will be very distressing and upsetting to have to withdraw from the course halfway through if the decision is not positive.
I am surprised though that they allowed you to enrol even though they classed you as a overseas student only to then change their position when u said you will partly self fund.
I think the starting point is to have detail information whether this course is available to overseas students in that uni. If not, then there is not much that you can do as long as the University has classed u as overseas student.
However, if it is available to other overseas students, then you must take them on why they are withdrawing you. What is their basis then? That will be discriminatory on their part unless you didn't meet other criteria for admission.
