Hi everyone
My husband and I had our interview today and I wanted to share our questions in the hope that these may help someone, should you be interviewed. A few pointers before I list the questions:-

Please ensure you know your application inside out – your questions will be based on your application and this will make it easier for you to answer. They are validating your application and there is no other means to seek information to ask questions about other than from what you have provided.
The questions are not to trip you up – your answers will provide context to your application
Also be sure that you know important dates inside out!

Please please please be honest in your application and answers – the HO already know the truth and the interview is a means of validation (validation being the exact word used by the home office interviewer)
The interviewer is not the person making the decision but will be typing all your answers as you talk

Be confident in your answers and be clear – if the interviewer is typing as you speak, allow them to clarify the answer with you / or you may ask them to read back to you your answer

I thankfully had a nice interviewer and was having a general chit chat with said person throughout the call – this helped me relax too.

We have been advised a decision will be made within the next week as applications are quiet at the moment

The questions that were asked:-
1. Your name
2. Your DOB
3. Have you sponsored someone?
4. Applicant’s full name
5. Where was I born? (I was born in a Commonwealth country)
6. How did I acquire my passport? (as I was born in a Commonwealth country)
7. How did the relationship start?
8. Where did we meet?
9. When did we see each other?
10. When did our relationship begin?
11. Did we always plan our wedding so early on? (as it was arranged)
12. Date of Nikkah
13. What was the wedding like?
14. Who was at the wedding?
15. Where did we go after wedding?
16. How long for?
17. Where did we go in X city where we did one pre honeymoon?
18. Have we seen each other since marriage?
19. What did we do the second time we met?
20. Where did we stay?
21. How many bedrooms in his house?
22. How often do you talk?
23. Which language do you talk in?
24. What are your favourite hobbies?
25. What are his favourite hobbies?
26. What’s his favourite food?
27. Have either of you been married/divorced before?
28. Do you have any children?
29. What’s his current address?
30. Is he employed?
31. How long have I worked for my company?
32. What is the company’s name?
33. My husband was asked my job role and what I do in my role
34. When does he want to travel?
35. How long does he intend on staying?

Other questions were asked related to my husband’s immigration history that I will not list as it may be identifiable.

My interview lasted 50 mins and my husband’s approx. 10 mins

Also worth noting, your interview may not be simultaneous. My husband’s interview finished before mine and he was calling me whilst I was still on a call so whilst they intend to interview you at the same time, this may not always happen. This won’t happen for everyone but it is something to note.

My husband and I await our decision and we wish you all the best too.
Hi, we've just recieved an invite for an interview similar to yours. Did you husband have to go to Visa application centre for his video call?

Hi smq

Yes my husband was invited for a video call interview and I was done via telephone.

My husband said he couldn’t see the video on the other side but the other side (HO interviewer) could see him.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I’ll try my best to answer!

Hi All,

I just received not straightforward email too, am on day 58 working days after biometric, pls in such situation is there anything to do , this stress is just too much

Hi Pawson

I’m so sorry and I completely understand how you feel! It’s worth asking - are there any complications in your case related to immigration history/financial requirements etc?

It’s so difficult because there isn’t anything we can do. I’m in the exact same position. The only options are

- Phone/call the HO for an update and ask to escalate but that can take 15 WD
- Escalate to your MP but MPs are on hold until the general elections
- Wait it out

I haven’t chosen any options yet and will see what happens next week

How long will this take again for HO to make decision, they didn't ask for extra information. They should have atleast state the reason for this pending, I also got VAF number. Hummmmm, highly disturb

No idea Pawson
The gov website shows deadline times. This is not exact but from what I remember

60% decided in 60 days
75% decided in 90 days
100% decided in 160 (I think)

Basically a waiting game

Hello,

I also received this email 3 weeks ago (28 WD, 6 weeks). I paid for priority. I received mine at exactly 09:30am. I believe these are completely automatic; sent just before the deadlines to prevent us emailing / calling. Now 9 weeks for me and nothing since....
I have not seen on any forum someone receiving this email and it getting refused tbh. From what I can see, eventually all 'not straightforward' emails have resulted in success. I think the delay is likely to do with the applicants country and delays in background checks.
Stay positive !
Hi Chloe

Thank you so much for your assurance. I wondered the same too because I did a Sherlock Holmes search on this forum in every possible way and non priority seems to get this email after 54/55 WD but then some did receive them after an interview which may not be around that mark.

I agree too - haven’t seen any rejected but you just never know!

Have you escalated / been in contact to ask?
Haha I am the same. Always sherlock holmesing the forum!
Yes I heard this morning from my solicitor. UKVI called her just now and said everything was ready and a decision will be made next week. The lady couldn't see where I had paid the assisted scanning fee. She sent some bank details and asked to make a bank transfer of £90 to TLS. However I paid £150 to TLS and have the reciept and I have the confirmation email so my solicitor is going to email them back. My partner also paid £60 when he had his biometrics.

I haven't had a phone interview...
My Solicitor has been really unhelpful tbh. Keeps telling me there’s nothing that can be done and I need to wait and I think well there is something that can be done but you don’t want to

Was your case complex in any way? Eg immigration history, financial requirements etc etc?

Good luck - I hope you receive good news

I’m currently deciding if I A) leave it and wait or B) escalate via my elected MP after 60 days...
My solicitor is the same. Keeps telling me to be patient which of course I am and trying to continue to be but I'm sure we deserve more than just that answer from them :(

Today is the 79th working day from biometrics for me/my husband. Still waiting.

This is so annoying Shiddd - I’m assuming you receive the processing not straight forward email too? Any complications or complex situation in your case?

I’m trying to build a picture of what may cause the long delay email (even though we’ll never know!)

Will you be escalating?

Yep got the non straight forward email on the 58th working day!
I contacted UKVI via email and all they said was that they need to do checks. And they apologised they couldn't do it within the 60 day mark. That's about it. I'm not sure how I would escalate it since my solicitor just keeps saying keep patient.

That’s what I’ve seemed to gather that the email being automated, comes almost after 54 working days.

I don’t think I could cope if it took it past the 60 day mark... Good luck and continue to remain positive.

I can actually say I know how difficult it is when you see everyone else moving on with theirs...

No there isn’t as they’ve emailed us within time
Is your file straight forward?

Rest assured that we’re both in the same position

I've tried to escalate. The only answer I got from HO which was about 10 days ago, was that they're still doing checks. And they apologised for not being able to complete everything by the 60th day mark. My solicitor keeps telling me to be patient. I don't know how else to escalate it if my solicitor is sitting still and everything was done through their email (the application). It's very frustrating.

It is. I’ve had the sane response from my solicitor but no escalation. Thankfully used our own email address so I can see any correspondence.

I’m still deciding whether to chase or be patient and not aggravate them.

Did you have any complexity in your case that may have resulted in the email, if you don’t mind me asking?

I don't mind at all :)

Nothing with the case itself, but apparently they never received my supporting documents even though I had a receipt to prove that they were all uploaded and accepted on 15th August. (Biometrics were taken on 19th August.)

So on the 50th working day that's when they sent the email saying they hadn't received my supporting documents. I then had to post my supporting documents to the scan hub in London and pay about ~£92.

Thereafter on the 58th working day I got an email saying my case is not straight forward.

Thank you for clarifying. I suppose I’m trying to understand if the generic ‘automated’ email is fit to complexity of case or to do with manpower and other delays not related to manpower

Still deciding whether I should escalate or not as the customer service standard can take us up to 6 months :(

It’s agonising

Bless you. Yes it is very much :( So far I've not seen my husband for nearly 8 months. It's very upsetting.

How long have you been waiting since application and biometrics?
