A lovely lady on Facebook shared this site with me after I asked a question in a dual citizen Facebook group. Thank you for all of the helpful information! I'm obviously new here and am trying to get the lay of the land, so please forgive me for any newbie mistakes.

Online Application: December 31, 2022
Documents Received: January 12, 2023

Congratulations Email: ***
FBR cert received: ***

I keep seeing people say they updated a google spreadsheet, but I can't seem to find that to add my info. Can someone post a link to it please? Thank you for all of your help!

And I just got an address check email yesterday - additional docs received in March 2023. Hoping the next email isn't a request for more documents!

Did you get the confirmation that your additional document was received from the postal service or from the Foreign Births Dept?

Royal Mail said mine was received on April 11th so hopefully I’m not too far away :)

Still waiting, and getting discouraged. Had my address check July 10, 2023 (docs received October 4, 2022). A few days later they wrote to ask me why, if I live in the States, my application was witnessed by a solicitor in Dublin. I wrote back immediately, explaining I'd been visiting in Dublin and had taken my application with me to complete (and to obtain a proper sized photograph) while there, and so had engaged a solicitor. Have heard absolutely nothing since.

:(

Out of curiosity, were those of you who were asked to provide additional documents also asked to confirm your address at this time? And were you then asked again now?

I ask because my additional documents were received on the 21st of March also and they asked for address confirmation then so I want to know really if I should expect another address confirmation email soon or if what I'm waiting on next is the congratulations email.

Hello to everyone,
I'm just starting my FBR process and collecting documents. On the Irish government website the instructions on the photograph requirement is a bit lacking. I see most people in this thread have already begun the process so I'm posting to ask specifics about the photographs.

First, the size. Then, color or black and white?
But especially, how is a witness supposed to sign 2 of the photos? If the photos are approximately passport size, there is very little space on the back, and surely not enough space for signature, application number and date. And my witness is a notary public with a 'rubber stamp' as well.

How have others done this successfully? Thanks so much.

i have the same problem. My witness just signed and dated the passport photos and then i sent them off.I have been worrying thinking they are going to ask me to do them again. Was thinking about just sending two more passport photos over and hope for the best. Not sure what to do.

Regular colour passport photos. My notary publics stamp only covered half of small space on the back and also barely scribbled his signature on it too. I had no issues. It was the same notary for the application and the passport copy, driving licence copy too. Add their business card in for good measure.

Update on my application for my 2 kids:

Online Application: Jun 12, 2022
Documents Received: Nov 14, 2022 (thank you US post office for the 5 month delay in shipping my documents!)
Request for additional documents (they didn't like my original witness): Sep 1, 2023

Sent off new forms, photos and copies of ID witnessed by a lawyer yesterday. Now I'm worried that they'll reject the new photos since I got them done in a hurry

Hello.

Please could someone advise on what email address to search for regarding any correspondence I may have missed related to my application? My email account is a mess and potentially I deleted something 😭

I have their domains flagged, dfa.ie and dfat.ie, try searching for those.

They aren't too bad on the FBR photos (but quite strict on the Passport ones when you get there). Colour - I once saw a comment on here that they should be EU size rather than US, but it was a one off comment (is there a difference?) - I seem to remember someone saying there are places that will do EU size, even in the US etc

My witness did manage to write on the back of both, it was a challenge, but not impossible. I feel a card is better than a stamp, as pointed out, most stamps won't fit anyway (and take up room on the photo!) and the card can help link your witness across all certified documents as well.

If it helps, the wording on photos I used on docs as follows..

Photos: Certified to be a true likeness of XXXX, signed, name, date - I don't personally remember putting application number on the photos...
Docs: Certified to be a true copy of the original as seen by me, signed, name, date (obviously if you photocopy a document on the top of the page it leaves more room)

What a journey!

Genealogist consulted because grandmother can't find grandfather's birth certificate: Sept. 28, 2020

Grandmother coincidentally finds grandfather's baptismal certificate: Oct. 3, 2020

But his birth wasn't officially registered, so...grandfather's birth officially registered: Dec. 2, 2020

Applied: Feb. 20, 2021

Received: Dec. 30, 2021

Address confirmation: Jan. 5, 2023

Additional docs received: March 20, 2023

Address confirmation: Sept. 5, 2023

Congratulations email: Sept. 14, 2023

Thanks so much to everyone who answered my questions along the way, and to those who made and updated the spreadsheet.
