married in 1972

Post by Claude » Thu Nov 09, 2006 8:22 pm

I am French. Iam 50 years old. I got married in 1972 in India. I failed to register and also did not report the birth of my children to the French embassy. Now I registered my wedding held on 1972 in India. Please can you tell me, how I can legalise my wedding with French now.
Many thanks

Hi Claude,
i got married recently in India to a french national. We had to go to the french consulate in pondicherry to get the 'certificate de capacity a marriage' for my wife and then we got married by Indian authorities. We then had to take the indian marriage certificate to the french consulate and attend the interview to get the marriage registered at the consulate and to apply for the 'livret de famille'. Please meet with the consular officials in India if you are living in India.I dont know the proceedure in france.
