Immigration Documentary

Post by docsteam » Tue Mar 11, 2014 2:55 pm

Dear all,

I hope you don’t mind me posting here. I contacted the website chairman who said i should post.

My name is Michael and I am an Assistant Producer with the Channel Five documentary team. I am currently working on a documentary for Channel Five that I am hoping someone might be able to help me with.

The documentary I am hoping you might be able to assist with, is on the subject of immigration, but is hopefully a little different to anything done previously on the topic.

For the documentary, we want to speak to 6-8 individuals or families, of non UK origin, to understand their thoughts, feelings and experiences on Britain and the immigration process today. Is it a fair and welcoming system? An easy to use and transparent system? How does the system differ for an immigrant and an asylum seeker? How could the situation be improved for people entering the country?

We would like to move away from the way the topic of immigration is covered in the tabloids, and to give people who don’t currently have a voice, their say on the subject.

It might be that you have ideas on how to approach this subject that you could share with me, or perhaps know of someone who might like to hear more about the programme. Please feel free to contact me on 07732 673815 or 0207 3085218 - or on my email, which is michael.burnett@five.tv - i am more than happy to call you back to save your bill.

Many thanks for your time,

Michael

While I welcome immigrants being given a voice ... I would advise anyone reading this to approach with caution.

Channel 5 are generally regarded as the tabloid of the tv world. So for them to be saying they wish to move away from the tabloid standpoint seems a little unusual ... Their recent output doesn't really suggest such deep thought ... (for reference: The Wright Stuff, The Big Benefits Row Live!)

And for the OP - you're probably going to get a WORLD of spam because you've posted your work email address on this forum. There are crawlers out there that look for this kind of information.

Note: For clarity - I am not advising people not to do this - I am simply saying that you should approach any contact with any media with caution and you should always look at the general content of that media provider before agreeing to talk to them.
