Professional Bachelor Degree == Academic Qualification?

Post by nks » Sun May 17, 2015 11:30 am

Hi,
To add to umpteen queries for meeting English language requirement with PBS calculator output, can we have some light on this: Engineering qualifications come into 'Professional' degree even with PBS. The requirement https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... _v17_0.pdf says academic qualifications (not a professional or vocational qualification). Popular wisdom and I am sure many successful applications from past proves that Bachelor Degree in Engineering is treated as Academic qualification in a professional subject and is not a 'Professional Qualification' that can't be used for English language requirement. Do all here concur with me on this? I hope PBS calculator providing 10 points cover this as well??

thanks,
nks

a degree equivalent to a UK bachelor's or master's degree in engineering taught in English and recognised by UK NARIC is sufficient for scoring 10 points for English.

Professional qualification means full membership of a professional institution (chartered engineer status).

Thankyou. That's reassuring.
