FLRM - need to travel, and apply close to exp date

Post by cecrobinson86 » Mon Apr 10, 2017 12:20 pm

I am traveling for business and will return to the UK 13/06/17. My Current Visa/BRP is valid until 17/06/17.

I was planning on landing from the airport and heading immediately to the post office to post my FLRM application so it is post-marked before the expiration date.

Does anyone know... will I have trouble getting back into the UK with only a few days remaining? I was planning on bringing copies of all of my application/documentation with me just in case.

I know this is waiting till the last min, but I'm short of options as I can't afford the now £1500+ premium fee to have it done before I need to travel.

Appreciate any feedback!

You will be returning to the UK before your current visa expires, so why do you think there would be a problem? It's irrelevant that your visa expires four days later. At the time of entry your visa is still valid. You should make sure your passport has six months' validity though.

However, I would call up the UK Visas and Immigration contact centre and clarify the situation with them before you head overseas. And I would also take your visa application paperwork with you, so if you are questioned on your return then you can clarify your intentions.

UK Visas and Immigration contact centre
Telephone: 0300 123 2241
Textphone: 0800 389 8289
Monday to Thursday, 9am to 4:45pm
Friday, 9am to 4:30pm

I understand and sympathise with your situation. The eye-watering £1500 fee is extortionate, and regrettably we will be shelling out later this year too!

I would treat any advice given over the premium rate 'help line' with extreme caution. The service appears to have been outsourced and the advice given is frequently incorrect on even the simplest of immigration matters and no responsibility will be taken for the errors. :!:

If your visa is still valid when you return there will be no problem on re-entry into the UK.

Thank you so much for the replies, I wanted to just confirm... I appreciate that I am waiting to the last min, I am planning on posting the application 4 days before the expiry date, sending it Royal Mail special delivery so it will arrive on the 14th. Is there any reason to think they will reject my application because it was sent too close to the expiry date?

Trying not to stress. And appreciate any feedback.

not the date the HO receive it. You could post it on the day the visa expires and it would still be accepted. 4 days before is well within time.

Relax...you're stressing unnecessarily.
