Hi all. I have been reading a lot, for months, and I wanted to ask about more recent impressions on the EEA dependant stamp. Long story short:
- I’m Spanish (EU), my partner is American
- Flying soon to L.A. to register for a marriage/civil union.
- Plan to fly to the U.K. immediately (where I live and work). He doesn’t live the USA anymore, so waiting there for the family permit for near a month at a hotel is hard to afford.
- Other than the union certificate that we will get, we have proof of being in a genuine relationship for over a year, plus bills in the same address in the U.K. for both of us (only last couple of months).
- I am aware that, officially, it is not recommended to follow this route and it’s preferred to apply for an EEA FP. The code 1A option is however preferable in our transient situation.
1) Anyone knows of any experiences getting the code 1A stamp at an airport in 2018?
2) Is it better to fly into Paris with a tourist visa and then take the ferry and ask for the stamp?
3) If we get denied the stamp, will he be let in as a tourist anyway?
4) Any tips on what proofs to bring with us and what questions to expect, would be great.
Thank you!
