5 years requirement

Post by namoamitabha » Fri Apr 12, 2019 3:10 pm

Hi,

I got a question about this clause in the requirement:

"You should have lived in the UK for at least 5 years before the date of your application."

I lived in the UK for 10 years, during that period I seldom travel outside UK at all and I also managed to obtain my ILR. However, more than 1 year after getting my ILR, I have to leave UK and I didn't apply for British Citizen at that time due to some urgent unforeseen circumstances. In any case, I am now back to the UK with my previous ILR visa. My question is that, can my past 10 years living in the UK count for above requirement? Or do I have to start counting that 5 years based on my most recent 5 years of living here again? Many thanks.

You appear to have been granted ILR in 2011.

What are the exact dates you left the UK and then returned??

What is your absence in the last 5 years?

For Citizenship applications, it is the 5 years immediately before the date of application that is relevant.
