Passports and photos for FLR(M) Application

Post by everydyingember » Mon Jan 20, 2020 1:16 pm

Hi there,

My new husband and I are applying for a spouse visa using the online application. We recently had a successful fiance visa application approved and have since been married in the UK.

I'm finding some conflicting information about the passports and photos. Does he need to submit his whole passport or just a certified copy of his photo page? Do we also need to submit passport-sized photos? I can't seem to find any straight information about this!

Thanks so much

The FLR(M) application is entirely online and you are able to scan all of the supporting documents and upload them yourself to the online portal. You will have to upload a scan of the photo page of each of your passports and I believe the application also asks about the applicant's travel history so it may be worth including a scan of any stamped pages as well. No certified passport copies or passport-sized photos will be necessary for the applicant as this will be done at the biometric appointment. Also, no documents are physically handed over for the FLR(M) application, you get to keep everything including passports.
I'm just a guy on the Internet who immigrated to the UK. My opinions are based on my experience and interpretation of the immigration rules and should not be considered legal or immigration advice; your mileage may vary.

Fiance Visa to Spouse Visa After Previous UK Stay - Application Questions

Post by everydyingember » Thu Jan 23, 2020 2:46 pm

I lived in the UK previously, on a youth mobility visa and then a spouse visa. I got divorced and left back to Canada for nearly a year, but I've just been married to a new partner. I entered on a fiance visa in August, and we got married in January. Now, I'm applying for our spouse visa - but some of the questions leave me a bit unsure. I wonder if they are referring to my current stay or want me to answer questions going all the way back to when I arrived in 2011?

There are also some questions that don't seem to take into account that I'm on a fiance visa? They just seem to be asking as though I'm already here on a spouse visa.

So, if anyone has had a similar situation and can maybe let me know what you've answered, that would be amazing.

What type of visa, leave to enter or remain or other permission do you have to be in the UK?
I was on a fiance visa. The options are work, marriage, visit, study, etc? Would a fiance visa be classed as marriage or visit?

Time lived in the UK
Do they mean from the start of my fiance visa in 2019, or am I going all the way back to when I first lived in the UK starting in 2011?

Have you previously lived in a country outside the UK including your country of birth?
When they want me to specify the dates, I'm going to say I lived in Canada from birth. But, then I need to say when I lived in Canada UNTIL. Is this referring to my first entry into the UK in 2011?

Do you have a biometric residence permit?

The options are yes, "no I used to have one for my most recent leave but I do not have it now" and "no I did not have a BRP for my most recent leave".

I had one on my spouse visa which expired and I sent it away. My most recent leave is a fiance visa, so would I answer that I did not have a BRP or that I did and that I don't have it now?

Do you and your partner have any shared financial responsibilities?
He's taking care of everything now using his salary and savings because I can't work on a fiance visa, but we'll be splitting everything once I arrive. Do I just say we aren't sharing anything or do I specify that we will once I get my full spouse visa?

Thanks in advance!

If the question hasn't pacifically ask about past usually by using the words such as ever, previously, last, before or other similar words/synonym the question mostly relate to present.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.
