Which form of IELTS is Easy?Failed in GT

Post by vijaymaghnani » Fri Sep 19, 2008 6:33 am

I am going to attempt IELTS, Please suggest me which form to take, as both versions(Academic & General) are acceptable to TIER-1..

My friends took General version recently and got OVER ALL 6, can he still apply for 10 points of English?

He did MBA from an recoganize institute?.Can a letter from institute with ielts result of 6 band is acceptable?..

Please reply

Hi Vijay,

General module is comparatively easy but Speaking/Listening sections are the same in both General and Academic versions. Reading and Writing sections are supposed to be tougher in Academic version.

A score of 6 in IELTS in not enough and one needs an overall score of atleast 6.5 to qualify for 10 points in English requirements.

You can check if the MBA from the said institute is listed on UK BIA points based calculator to meet English requirement. If so, then you may obtain a letter from the institute stating that the course was taught in English as an additional proof.

If not, then there is no way out but to score 6.5 in IELTS.

Cheers,
A.

Previously our institute were reconganize in BIA Calculator for meeting english language requirement, but now it is not showing as meeting english requirement..

I think a masters like MBA is not VALID to claim 10 points for english, you can claim 10 points for english only on a BACHELOR Dagree...AM I Right?..Plz Comments...

Correct

You can check if your bachelors is in the tool for english requirements. You can give your mba as proof for masters degree and your bachelors degree cert for english. Thats what a friend of mine did. However it was a in country application.
