Skilled worker extension for 3 years, avoid IHS fees hike

Post by quake145 » Mon Dec 18, 2023 8:58 pm

Hi Moderators, :)

I have a :?: .
I came to UK back in 2019 Feb and had ICT visa for initial 3 years (2019 - 2022) . Then i was moved on to skilled worker visa.

Please see the details,

Date of application submit for Skilled worker visa (2 years under priority route) = 17-01-2022
Date of biometrics = 27-01-2022
Date of email from home office about successful application = 2-2-2022
BRP end date = 27-01-2024

As I am again applying for skilled worker visa extension, I am thinking to apply before 16th Jan (IHS fee hike)
Also, I am thinking 3 years extension should be ok for me to complete 5 years on skilled worker and then ILR.

Here are the questions,
1. If I applying before 16th Jan (i.e. 11th) and would my visa end date on BRP be 11th 2027?
2. And since, I got the previous skilled visa successful email on 2-2-2022, i can file for ILR 30 days before 2-2-2027 so 2-1-2027. Would that mean only 9 days I'll have to file and get decision on ILR?
3. Do you suggest that 3 years extension is tight so should i go with 4 years extension rather than 3?

Or please correct me if i am wrong with my thoughts. I am just trying to save on IHS money :)

Thanks!!!!!!
:)

In general, as long as you don't exceed absences of 180 days in a 12 month period throughout the 5 year qualifying period, you should be eligible to apply for Settlement from 2027.I am guessing 3 years would be sufficient, but better to check for others comments as well.

Hi,

There is a chance the hike will take place not before 31st Jan. The reason is the debate is still in progress and the latest debate is on 10th Jan. If it is accepted on the same date, the implementation date will be pushed back to 31st Jan (21 days after)

Still not a statuary instrument (SI).
