Hello everyone. I'm new to these boards. I'm doing a PhD in Scotland that's supposed to start next month. I've been married since 2007 and have a 15 year old daughter. We did our visa applications and biometric screenings last month and everything was sent in to VFS. As part of my husband's application, I provided a marriage certificate, a bank statement that shows both of our names (joint account), and copies of our drivers licenses with the same address. This documentation was both uploaded to the VFS website and physical copies were sent in with our biometric stamped application. Visas were sent December 19 and received in New York at VFS' office on December 22.
My visa was approved last Friday and my passport is on its way back (yay!). Today my husband received an email saying that his visa couldn't be approved because no documentation verifying that he's actually married to me was provided. WTF?! Obviously that's wrong because they had both digital and physical copies.
He emailed them back with evidence as they requested. He provided them another copy of our marriage certificate, a copy of our voters registration cards that show the same address, and a record of text messages between us (their suggestion).
I'm now worried that UKVI will "lose" the documentation for my daughter's visa. We haven't heard anything about hers at all yet. I gave them copies of her birth certificate and a letter stating she is our daughter by birth (as evidenced on the birth certificate) and she has my permission to apply for a dependent visa and that she'll be residing with us. Both husband and I signed that.
Is losing both digital and physical documentation common?
