ILR for Skilled worker dependent based on Arrival date at UK or Visa Start date

Post by paiswarya » Wed May 27, 2026 9:28 am

Sir/Mam

Query 1 : Does the 5 year count date start for a skilled worker dependent in uk start from the visa start date or arrival date at uk ?

Query 2 : Main applicant my spouse’s skilled worker visa is valid from 20 May 2026 to 08 June 2031. My Dependent visa starts from 25 June 2026 to 08 June 2031. Will the dependent (myself) be able to apply ILR with the main applicant as the expiry falls on 8 June 2031.

Thanks in advance

No one on the forum can't tell you what the rules will be in 5 years time!!! They change frequently.

Far to early to ask questions about possible ILR.

Current rules are the qualifying period starts from visa issue date.

So visa issue date, minus 28 days = date you can both apply for ILR, if using your visa start dates.

Of course it is NOT mandatory to apply together. Dependents can apply after the main applicant.
