Marrying an Brasilian overstayer and moving to Ireland

Post by eogh » Mon Jul 13, 2026 4:37 pm

Hello all,

I have been dating a Brazilian for over a year now after we met at a church event and want to marry, unfortunately she has a 9 year over stay in England. I am an irish national living in Ireland, we want to marry using Utah online marriage which is recognised in Ireland and move to Ireland, I spoke to a solicitor, he said they main issue is boarder control more than the marriage, as they overstay will flag coming directly from England.

Has anyone else had this situation?
