How can i prove i'm currently supporting her?

I have a question about finance. My fiance is here on a WHV (i'm British). As she had to stop working in June (due to only being allowed to work for 12 months on WHV) i have been supporting her since then and will continue to do so until we get married in January.

At the moment i only manage to save about £100 a month but this is because i am supporting myself and my fiance. I don't want the ECO to turn around and say - "You can't show that you have an extra £400+ a month that would be required to support another adult", when i would have that amount spare if i wasn't already supporting her. Basically i want to make it very clear that i CAN support her as i am already and that, that needs to be taken into account when assessing my finances.

Do you just need to be able to show that you have £400+ a month left after rent, bills etc or do you have to show that you are currently saving that amount? For example could you be spending all your wage at the moment on beer but that's OK because it's disposable income that could be used to support your spouse?

There is no requirement for you to prove you are supporting her now. All the ECO will need to satisfy him/herself is evidence at the point of making the application.

With the fiance visa, the requirement for maintenance and accommodation on your part is not exclusive. She can get support from friends and relatives leaving in the UK and that is allowed by the rules. This will give you enough time to get things in order. Once you apply for FLR, you will need to provide evidence you can indeed maintain her. You are not allowed then, to use evidence from a third party, to prove that she can be maintained without recourse to public fund.

We wont be applying for a fiance visa - we are getting married and will apply for the spouse's visa. So i will need to prove straight away that i can support her.

My question was more about the fact that supporting her now (as i am) impacts on my finances and makes it look like i am less able to support her when we are married when that is not the case as i am already supporting her - it's a vicious circle.

Is the finance based on what you have left after essential bills or what you manage to save every month? Do you have to show that you have saved £400+ a month, for the last six months or just that you have enough disposable income after all bills (i.e. £400+ that you might already be spending every month but could be used to support your spouse)?
