UK Tier 1 Visa Job Types

Hi,
What r all the jobs one can work on UK tier 1 visa.
Can one start a small business. Can we get visa for a person from india to work in the business started. would they grant visa.

Is there any information available online. If so, please post the link

Sounds great. You can start a company and invite people from india to work on it by giving them work permits. But it does't work like that. Your company should meet certain creteria to do that which include meeting certain annual turnover, financial stability, previous successfull track records, certain period in UK etc. Otherwise people would invite their brothers,neighbours everybody to work in UK. I think recently HO has also started issuing licenceses to all companies who process work permits based on their financial performance to prevent mis-use of the system.As a result companies who were allowed previously to process WPs are finding it difficult to retain the licenses.
Don't explore that option unless you are extremely comitted to follow that path.

Thanks for that. As per my understanding one can start a business with tier 1 visa. So Actually its not about starting a company. What I wanted to start off may be a small kind of fast food centre and I know a good friend who is a professional cook. So I wanted to bring him for this purpose lets say. Does the same rule apply here too, the one you u had mentioned earlier

What sort of fast food centre? I mean what sort of food and what sort of area?

To bring a worker from outside UK, you have to prove that you cannot find such worker in UK. You have to advertise this job information from your company in a website. If after certain period of time, you do not receive any applicant, then you can invite a foriegn worker. In addition to this, you have to fulfil the conditions that Chetan has just mentioned.

But, if your cook friend also has a Tier 1 visa (highly skilled person), then of course it would work very easily , for both of you.

Ur right. He has 15 + years experience as a Chef, but he doesnot have good education, just a dipoloma i suppose. So I can only go ahead if he is there.

Really got to find a way to bring him though. Not sure how though.
May be there exists a visa which evaluates experience than education, then yess.

Your Chef might also need(from UK officials) to get Health and Hygeine Certificate without which you cannot commercially start food business. You should also look at various other certifications which he/you will need in order to work in food business. These laws are quite stringent due to public safety and health issues. I suggest you speak to some of the people who are already in this business.
