Hi everyone,

I have been reading this forum and i appreciate people's interest in helping others. What a great site.

I have the following questions and i just wanted everyone's opinion especially, learned people on the forum.

Can an international student cohabit with a british citizen on benefit ( in-country application)
Do they need 2 years Cohabitation in unmarried partner just like in EEA application

Do they need letter of appliication to Home office in cohabitation with british citizen.

Assuming that the OP is a non-EEA national:

Is the query related to (just) living with a British citizen or about whether you can change your immigration category from Tier 4 migrant / student to that of an unmarried partner of a British citizen?

If the former, you don't need UKBA's permission. You can live with anyone you choose to live with!
If the latter, you must provide evidence of a relationship akin to marriage / civil partnership for at least 2 years to be able to apply for further leave to remain as unmarried partner of a British citizen (295D).

Yes they can however, the benefits office needs to know about the other person moving in. The money that the student has also needs to be declared as this can impact the amount of money that the benefits recipient will get.
