ILR success 25/03/11

Post by dinkolfy » Fri Mar 25, 2011 6:17 pm

Hi all,

Just thought I would re-assure those of you who are here worrying about applying for ILR who has an unspent court conviction for traffic offence. I used to be one of you until this afternoon when I was granted ILR ! :D

My case: Convicted by magistrates court in 2006 for driving without due care & attention -CD10-whilst driving on International Driving Permit and causing an accident. I pleaded guilty and was fined 6 points on my licence ( still wonder how the points would have been endorsed on an IDP!!) and £520 (including court costs as mine was a late plea). I declared this on section 7.1 of the SET(O) form and provided a brief explanation of what had happened. No questions asked; i was granted ILR !!!!!

I would strongly recommend from my experience that anyone planning to apply under similar circumstances they should declare the same whilst applying for ILR. Honesty does pay!!!

I have not been a member of this community but have been visiting for almost 2 years; I am really grateful to each one of you - esp. sushdmehta, xyz123,Casa & John - for your valuable advice & guidance given to/shared with the posters without which I wouldn't have submitted a watertight application.

All the very best for all prospective ILR applicants!!

The requirement regarding "unspent convictions" will come into effect only from 06-Apr-11! And that date has not yet arrived!
