Post by uGuest » Fri May 28, 2004 1:09 pm

Hi,
brief: Spouse dont have Marriage Certificate.

I am indian.
I am in uk since 3 months on Work Permit. I am married 1 and half year back.

I didnt came with my wife as she is near delivery date when i am travelling. now I want my wife and new born kid to be here. they have applied for Kids Passport.

My name is updated in my wife passport where as my passport is not updated with my wife and kid name as i was travelling freq during last one year.

we dont have Marriage Certificate. but we have Marriage Affidavit on Indian Gov Stamp paper Notarised.

Please advise me, how should my wife apply for the dependant Visa?

The British High Commission will need to see an original of the relevant marriage certificate - IMHO the affidavit won't be accepted. Out of interest why is there no marriage certificate? The BHC will also need the full birth certificate for the child including both parents names. The matter of names in passports is moot - you and your wife need to prove that you are the people named on the marriage certificate.
