What is the difference between part time and self employed?

Post by krischai81 » Wed Oct 12, 2011 12:10 pm

Hi guyz,

Could you please guide me on the difference between part time employed and self employed ?

Does making a website for a third party to adjust my earnings comes under self emplyed or Part time ?

Also the Tier 1 extension form states as
B26. The applicant should indicate whether they consider themselves to be employed or self-employed: (with the following check box)
Employed
Self-employed
Other (eg. students)

can we tick both employed and self employed?

Full Time = 100% FTE (or 5 days/week)
Part Time = less than 100%, e.g. 40% (or two days per week)
-assuming a standard week is 5 days and someone employs you to work

Self Employed - you are your own boss.

from my understanding

If you are showing yourself as employed you need to proof your earnings from the employer providing salary slips, employer letter and bank statement etc...

If you are showing yourself as self-emplyed first you need to register yourself as self-employeed with HRMC and then you need to proof your earnings providing Accountant Letter who confirm you earning etc, Bank Statement, Invocies and class 2 national insuarance bill

and if you are showing youself both so you need to show required documents from both earnings

hope this help

98. An applicant’s overall total earnings can include those from several sources of work, including a combination of salaried employment and self-employed activities.

Your earnings can be classified under two categories:

1. Employment 2. Self employment

Employment is when you work for some one and you get salary slips.

Self employment is when you work for your clients, you invoice them and you pay your taxes yourself. Usually you do not get payslip by your clients when you are self employed.

Yes, you can be employed as well as self employed at the same time. I have handled/represented many cases where applicants are engaged in employment as well as self employment.

From the little information you have provided, it looks like that your web design and web development work is your self employment.
