Request for Guidance on Financial Difficulties and Extension Implications

Post by kambohg » Tue May 21, 2024 11:50 pm

Dear Members,

I hope this post finds you well. I am seeking advice regarding an extension.

We are currently on the 10-year family life route and were previously on asylum for nearly nine years. During that time, we accrued credit card debt. Despite our best efforts to repay it, the high APR has kept us in a financial loop for the past five years, with monthly payments of £575 or more , which consumes nearly all of our income.
Our son is now going to be British we applied for that , and our extension is due in October 2024. We are considering reaching out to companies that assist with loan satalement for those who are struggling to manage their debt. We are concerned about whether this action will affect our extension. Please note, the credit card debt is in my wife’s name.
I feel a sense of shame in asking for this help, as we have genuinely tried to manage this debt for the past five years, but we have been unable to break free from this financial burden. This is our second extension application, and we would appreciate any advice you can provide.
Thank you for your understanding. Our intention has always been to repay this debt, but with a family of five, including three children, our expenses are significant.

Thanks

I recommend seeking free debt advice from your local Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), before you make any arrangements with independent companies offering debt management.

See the information in the link below:

Your credit history can't affect your extension.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

People say all kinds of things. People once said the world was flat!

Stop paying isn't a good idea regardless, as it doesn't tell well on your character. That could come back to bite you later on, but not for your extension.
