They are allowed to travel after submission/biometrics and whilst the application is in progress.
No permission is required - naturalisation is not an immigration application.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

They can travel but if they applied for naturalisation under section 6(1) they shouldn't be away for more than 6 months.

Naturalisation Application

Post by steveojo22 » Tue Sep 02, 2025 6:54 pm

Hello,

I wonder if you could please help me with this.

I'm in the process of completing my Naturalisation application and hope to send the application by the end of this month, (September).

I have a trip planned for December 2025 and given the 6 month UKBA response timeline, I would like to ask if I can still use my Indefinite Leave to Remain status to re-enter UK in early January 2026 even if Home Office makes their decision on my application while I was outside UK between December 2025 and early January 2026 please?

I just want to know if I can still use my indefinite leave to remain status to re-enter UK even when the home office has made their decision while I was away please.

Thank you.

You are only British once you have attended the ceremony and received your certificate.
The email you will receive is only advisory, it does not confer citizenship, only the certificate does.
You are under immigration/ILR status until the ceremony date.

If you paid it straight away no issue. no need to declare it.

Citizenship Application

Post by steveojo22 » Mon Oct 06, 2025 8:59 am

Hello,

I wonder if you could please assist me with my enquiry as a bit confused.

My wife and our 7 year old daughter submitted a joint citizenship application in July 2025. This morning my wife received an email stating that her application has been approved, but we didn't receive anything for our daughter despite the fact that it was a joint application submitted on the same day.

Could you please advise me on what I need to do as am a bit confused.

Thanks for your support on this.

Each aplplicaion is processed and decided on its own, even if a joint application is made. There is no such thing as a family application.

Just wait for a few days.

Ok, thanks CR001. In fact we've just received our daughter's email, thank you.

I would like to ask if our 7 year old daughter can now apply for her British Passport having received Home Office approval today? Or will she need citizenship ceremony certificate like her mother in order to apply for a British Passport?

Thank you.

She needs the certificate to apply for a passport. Children do not attend or have to attend a ceremony. The certificate will likely be given to your wife at your wife's ceremony if it doesn't arrive in rhe post.
