Dependent visa status on SWV route when main applicant becomes citizen

Post by mugaley » Mon Oct 06, 2025 2:36 pm

Dear members,

When my wife came to the UK in 2022, I already had a SWV. Accordingly, she has a PBS Dependent (SW route) visa and will be eligible to apply for ILR in 2027 under current rules.

1 year after she came to the UK, I got my ILR and later became a British citizen. Does she need to change her SW Dependent visa as I am no longer a Skilled Worker.

Does this affect her status or is there no action need to be taken?

Regards

Her visa remains valid and she continues on her existing visa path till she qualifies for ILR.

If she requires an extension, it will be a 3 year skilled worker dependent extension.
