Passport stamps for citizenship application

Post by ILROctober2025 » Wed Aug 06, 2025 5:09 pm

My wife will be applying for citizenship immediately after (hopefully) getting ILR in October 2025.

Guide AN says

"If your passport is not stamped when you come into the United Kingdom, you must still
provide your passport, but also provide alternative evidence of presence as above."

Now that she has an eVisa, her passport is not stamped (or wasn't for the last arrival last month - 30 day absence).

Do I need to do a subject access request to show she has not been absent, or will just passport be fine?
It has been stamped properly before eVisas introduced.

Thanks, just want to make sure application is perfect!

Scan all pages of her passport, it will be enough, especially if she hasn't travelled.

Photo on referee form

Post by ILROctober2025 » Wed Sep 17, 2025 2:54 pm

Are there any rules on this?
Does it just have to be a passport photo of the applicant?
Doesn't need to be the same one? as any other photo used in the application?
As long as its a photo of the applicant?

And then it can be scanned and uploaded (referee form)?

Thanks in advance!

The photo is only for the referee form. Easiest is a passport photo if you have a spare one or take one on your own phone. It’s basically for the referee who confirms it’s you. It’s not used for anything else.

Sign citizenship referee form before ILR approved

Post by ILROctober2025 » Fri Sep 19, 2025 4:31 pm

Is it OK to sign the referee forms for citizenship two weeks before getting ILR (as a spouse of British citizen)?

Self employment evidence

Post by ILROctober2025 » Tue Oct 07, 2025 9:18 pm

Hello,

Is it right that if you're self employed you have to provide some sort of tax document when you're applying for citizenship?

Which specific document is that, and does it need to be a letter received in the post or can it be a printout from the HMRC website?

Thanks!

it can be a printout. it must be SA302 and full tax return from 2024-2025.
