HSMP dependant visa application - can we apply?

Post by mohit_sap » Wed Feb 25, 2009 1:30 pm

Hi all,

First of all, my gratitude to the board and the members, whose interactions and shared experiences here helped me in making a successful application for Tier1 Visa.

I applied from India and got my Tier1 visa in January, and now I want to apply for dependant visa for my wife.

Now my dilemma is:-

I have still not gone to the UK, and as per my understanding, the primary Visa holder should be in UK already before he can apply for dependant visa for his spouse..
Am I right in assuming that, coz I had not applied for my wife's dependant Visa when I applied for HSMP tier1 visa in november 08 and at that time in my VAF9 Application i had mentioned that she wont be accompanying me initially.

thanks everyone,
regards,
Mohit.

You may browse and check. I myself intend to apply for dependents.

You can apply for your partner's dependent status whenever you meet the required criteria. New PBS is a simple YES or NO option. Beneficial for you and the immigration officer.

If the Tier 1 migrant is outside the United, each family member of the Tier 1 migrant must show at least £1600; this is in addition to any funds the Tier 1 migrant needs to prove he has enough money to support himself.

One of the requirements for family members of Points Based System migrants is that they must be able to support themselves for the entire duration of their stay in the United Kingdom without needing help from
public funds (for example beneits provided by the state). If they cannot, they could face inancial hardship because they will not have access to most state beneits.

Hope it helps :-)

This complicates further

Hi Tapinder,
While the reply of Asif (and yours) answers my basic query and is reassuring, you have additionally implied that the Dependant must show £1600 in her account, which is in addition to the funds in primary HSMP holder's account.

Now, here I was under the impression that only my savings account with INR equivalent of £1600 plus £2800 was enough and my wife need not show £1600 in her savings account... :(
This has completely taken me aback.. :?

Someone please confirm.

many thanks to all,

regards,
Mohit.
