Seriously? Fees?

Post by happi.ocholloh » Tue Dec 15, 2009 9:28 pm

Let me get this straight, the Settlement visa fee is £585 Ok I got off the ground from the shock of that. Contacted the office in India and they tell me it is 70 pounds more than that.
Why because exchange rates change and the fee must be paid in that currency so rather than check the rates or do a simple calculation they are going to charge almost a hundred pounds more to applicants across the board.

Is this correct or please please tell me I was misinformed

sorry my mistake the difference is 618.40 for a fee which is 585.00

I can imagine if that happened with your phone bill or if you turned up to buy a car, and they say sorry we just decide thats the fee because rates change.

This process gets stranger and stranger. Glad we only do it once

Yep, we applied in Vietnam where for me to buy VND costs around 28,500 but the embassy uses an exchange rate locked at 30,000.

So yeah, it actually cost me about £615

Citizenship paid for? Yep ...

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... 060409.pdf

£720 to naturalise under AN.

Running total for my wife so far is around £1500 (2 x tourist visa + Fiancee visa + FLR(M) + Life in the UK test) - but we've got the SET(M) premium (£1020) and then the Citizenship application (£720) to go.

Total cost in the end will be around £3200 all in all to become a British Citizen.

And the Life in the UK test - mandatory! £35 plus another £30 or so for the study book!

And the OP is just starting, ILR/BC will be changed by then, will take longer and I am 100% will cost a lot more....

Better start saving!

3 settlement visas (wife and 2 step kids) 3 * £500+ = £1,500+
flr * 1 = £300+
life in uk test £35 * 2 = £70
ilr * 2 (wife/step daughter, + 1 for stepson over 18 ) 2 * £750 = £1,500
citizenship for the wife = £720
still to pay for stepson

total up to now £4,100+
