Please advice on HSMP Renewal

Post by hindian » Mon Dec 22, 2008 11:21 am

I need to clear couple of things for my HSMP renewal application.

I have been here in U.K past 8 years, 4 year for my Degree + 1 year masters and than on a student work permit for another year. In Jan 2007 I got my HSMP and is now due to expire in Jan 2009. I have met all the requirement and scored total of 80 points. What I'm not sure is the Maintenance fund of £ 800. It says you need to maintain £800 for 3 months and in my case there is a month in between where it goes below £800. I currently have fund of over £2500 which I earned and I can prove that with my pay slips.

I want to know if the Home office will consider the circumstances as a result of which my Fund went below £800. I got engaged Indian traditional way couple of months ago and as a result my savings went down. I can prove this with detailed spending list and photographic evidence. My partner is British citizen and we are planning to get married in June 2009. I am also Home owner in U.K with regular income and never had any problems paying bills or council tax. Here again I can prove this with help of statements and receipts.

I’ve read applications are refused because of the Maintenance fund below £800 which I cant understand because I have been able to maintain my self without any public fund and still able to do that. I guess the whole idea having Maintenance Fund is to be able to survive when in need of money and that is exactly what happened in my case. I have now been able to built up my savings and its over £2500.

So can someone please explain things I need to consider before sending my application or is there any alternative approach. Also if the application is refused will I be able to appeal against it.

Thank you

There is no excuse to NOT maintain the maintenance funds. Your application will be rejected if you dont have proper funds. So please think over before you pay £750 for application (which may help you for maintenance as well)
