Please advise regarding hsmp extension

Post by MUGHALL » Fri Jun 02, 2006 7:42 pm

Dear Friends

Regards

I would seek your guidance as senior member and hope you will respond asap.

My HSMP visa is going to be expired on 12th of July, 2006 and I am preparing documents for extension. I have collected a lot of information from the forum posts but I want your help as following:

1) I am currently financially active doing an odd job since 2nd of Jan this year which is not related to my chosen field and getting £5.5/hour. I have payslips, 3 months bank statements and other required documents. I am also paying tax on my pay slips. Can I have my extension easily worked out as I have fear I arrived late here and doing an odd job?

2) Same like one of the forum mate (desiguy) who came UK after 5 months from his visa start date and recently got 4 years extension, I also came to UK on 12th of Dec 2005, I mean 5 months after my visa start date as on 12th of July,2005. Is this a questionable?

3) Would any body please let me know about nature of job when some one to apply for extension. I mean should this be in one's chosen field or an odd job can work out as well? You can share information of any of your friends or forum mate if you know. Some forum mates have sent a cover letter as well. Can I have some guideline regarding its sample or contents about what to write.

Waiting valuable suggestion as I am seeking a sympethetic advice before applying by 10th of June,2006.

Thanks and regards

Dear MUGHall

As the general rule they are expecting you to work in your HSMP level, pay tax and NI contribution.

But What I could say is that I have read cases in this forum people get extension by doing the job which is normarly done by students (similar to your case)

In theory even without job in hand you could still get extension. But I do not know whether this theory exist in practice. What could help you is that show eveidence that you are actively looking for job in the HSMP level (show invitation letter for interview, show application form that you have filled).

Also, keep in mind "the most important thing" for HSMP extension is that you show significant evidence that you could maintain yourself for the period of your HSMP extension without recoursing of public funding. Therefore, reasonable amount of money in your bank account will help you a lot.

THere is a high probability that they will not grant you full extension (4 years) but at least you will still have the chance to look for a job in your HSMP level.

Good luck with your application, Hope to hear good news from you in this forum.

Dear Pantaiema and other respected forum mates:

Thanks very much for your detailed reply. Infact i am keenly looking for a role in my chosen field and have a considerable tracked record and stuff regarding my job hunting and subsequent replies of the recruiters and employers as per your esteemed piece of advice. Moreover, I have got myself registered as self employed in my chosen field but in spare time with the inland revenue and have prepared necessary documentation through my accountant,( to whom i have ascertained an authority to act on behalf of me with inland revenue)to be produced to show as an evidence that I have taken measurable and necessary steps towards my employment and becoming financially active. I have also paid NI contribution that implies on my being sole trader.

As far as my current job is concerned, I have only two monthly basis wage slips (April & May, 2006) showing my tax code, PAYE tax & National Insurance Deduction and also NI Number mentioned on it. Are two wage slips sufficeint? For previous period, my employer agrees to give me some sort of letter to produce where appropriate. I have three bank statements showing a balace of about £3600 in my account.

Besides these documentation, i have other essentially required docs. Would you please advise on pay slips as how many minimum are required so that I can ask my employer to arrange if possible.

An early reply from senior forum members highly appreciated

Normally they ask at least three subsequent months. Generally, the people in this forum even submit 12 consecutive months.

But if 2months is the only thing you have and you have no other option, go for it.

As I mentioned before the most important thing for the case worker is that "you could maintain yourself without any potential of claiming public fund/benefit" during the duration of your extension.

How much money you should have in your bank account, there is no official guidelines. And this is certainly depends on your circumstance for instance, whether you are single or you have family, children, how much money you spend monthly for accomodation, maintenance, etc. THey could easily see this form your bank statement, so do not need to prove it.

But I will say it is normally works if you have at least 700/month, (£8400/annum) given that if you are single. Thus, if you have money at least £8400 in your bank account it will substantially help to make your case stronger.

This is especially true if you can not prove with "substantial evidence" that you will have future earning that will gurantee that you have the ability to maintain yourself.

Good luck wih your application. Hope to hear a good news from you.

Hi,
My extension is due next week and I got documents to support my application. However I have bank statement for 3months and list of transaction for 6months from bank. My bank print statement quaterly and I lost the one for march due to change of address. I have approached myy bank but getting another copy of statement takes 14 days. The bank gave me option of list of transaction on thier letter head paper and stamp.

Do you forsee any problem submitting the list of transaction inliue of statement of account?

Thank you

Go to the Branch office of those bank where you are living. Explain the situation. They could easily print it directly for you from the computer. In some banks they charge you £5 per statements. But, this is defenitely a better option and make your case stronger.

Remember that bank statement in the UK could answer a lot of questions, such as your rent, your address, your financial situation, etc
