My experience at Barclays, liverpool street branch..

Post by coolsats » Tue Aug 23, 2011 2:37 pm

Hi Guys,

Am applying for my wife dependent visa. I have all my previous months bank statement except August, as it will get generated on 1st Sept and i will leave india on 29th. So, went to the branch to get statement from 1st Aug till today. They said they will not print on the letter head and instead printed on plain A4 paper and signed and stamped it.

Then i asked them if they can give me a maintainence letter from june till august(3 months) confirming that i have maintained XXX amount in my bank.
They said they dont write letters, and they already have pre defined template on their computer and can only give those. So, could not get the maintainence letter....Very disappointed.

1) My question is will home office accpet this statement on plain A4 paper, but is signed and stamped.

2) how should i get the maintaince letter from barclays, has anybody got such letter from barclays before.
Just in case if they dont give that letter can i show maintainence fund from my india bank acccout. I got the same letter from HDFC while applying for my Tier 1 visa.

Please advice guys, am leaving for india in few days...:-(

Regards..

1. No they will not accept this statement if it doesn't include the bank's logo.
2. Speak to the bank manager or try another branch or order statements in the post.

You can use an Indian bank account as long as the letter or statement meets the requirements as set out in the policy guidance.

Hey Guys,

Update
------

1) Went to another branch of Barclays and they did printed on the letter head with Barclays logo, but refused to signed it. Is that fine. Will home office accept this. Now I ve one statement on plain A4 sheet, signed and stamped and the other on letter head without sign and stamped. Am thinking of attaching both to the applicaiton. Do you guys think this should be okey.

2) On the maintainance letter front, as barclays refused the letter, so i ll be using my HDFC account in india to show that i have maintained xxx GBP during the three months period. Is this okey guys..

3) I still dont get it, how come ppl applying for Dependent visa gets the maintainance letter from the uk banks, or everybody use indian bank for maintainence fund. Can somebody clear this doubt for me please..
Ppl who applied for dependent visa recently should provide some light on this.

Please advice...

Regards..

I bank with Halifax. Each bank branch has a different standard. Generally, it helps if you go to the banks with all your documents and tell them that your date is near and they won't accept without the stamp / signature / letter etc.

I believe that a bank statement not on official stationery needs to be stamped with a supporting letter from the bank that the attached documents are genuine.

A few years back, I provided them HO with a printed statement from the bank on their letterhead with each page stamped and that worked, though without a supporting letter. This time, I got them to write a letter and sign that the attached documents are correct.

Hi Sahmads,

1) Thanks for the quick reply. I finally managed to get the print outs on the original stationary, signed and stamped by the bank. So, one query is resolved :-)

2) The other query still remains unanswered, can I use the funds in the indian bank account to show as maintainance fund for the three months period.

3) Can anybody confirm if they have taken the maintainance fund letter from the bank in uk. This would really help me.

Regards....

I applied successfully last year for my wife and kids.

I provided them with the 3 months bank statement from UK bank and never got maintainence letter.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
