Alex,

Did you open a company in the UK? I am self employed right now and I am thinking of applying for the HSMP. My company is based in the USA. I have no employees and it is more for liability protection than anything else. I know I am thinking far ahead, but do you think I can continue to use this company or will I have to establish an LLC in the UK, whenever I land there. Is that recommended to make sure I get my extension whenever I apply for it?

Also, was your self employement closely related to your HSMP profession? I will be applying as a software engineer as I have 7 years of work experience in the USA. However, my self employment is in the field of online marketing and selling of affiliate products, etc through websites. I also plan to start a outsourcing unit to handle requests for websites creation, article writing and software development. I also create websites myself. I was wondering if this can be included in the initial application. Once I am in the UK, I intend to pursue my self employment full time. Will this be a problem when time for extension comes by because it is not exactly software engineering?
