So am I right in saying (according to the last message) that if I claim housing benefit in my name and then cancel it a few months before I apply for his ILR, it should be ok? Something isn't right here, because the application form asks if the applicant or his partner has CLAIMED any benefits ...

Just to add to my last msg, your solicitor, depending on the reasons for refusal, might advise you to re apply rather than go through the appeal process. Also, depending on your income etc, you may qualify for legal aid, shop around because some of these solicitors charge a bomb so be careful.

You are right. NHS has nothing to do with public funds. My husband has registered with a local doctors surgery and is allowed to receive NHS treatment on a 2 year visa.
