Girlfriend Flying Over Need Help !!!

Post by darkoracle » Sun Aug 21, 2011 3:48 am

My Girlfriend is a Namibian Citizen on a Namibian Passport. She is flying over in a week to stay with me for 4 months before her next job starts. She applied for a sponsorship visa and was DENIED.

We have already bought the ticket, I have spent tons of money on my flat to make it liveable for a girl and I have booked holiday for the first week she is here. Now Namibians don't need a VISA to visit for up to 180 days, so she is flying over anyway.

Since the application she has gotten a credit card, and a written letter from her new employer stating she will be starting work there when she returns in December and she has over £4000 in her bank account.

I realize she will probably be flagged for a check now anyway because the visa was denied, but with the new supporting documentation does she at least have a chance to be let in.

I love this girl, and I don't want her to end up being sent back and be on a plane for 24 straight hours. Also is there ANYTHING I can do to help her get in, I realize they are trying to stop people from over staying, but she is a LEGITIMATE visitor and I am flying back to Namibia with her to meet her parents. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps she should apply for a visitor visa before travelling.

No Time

There simply isn't enough time left, she flies in just over a week and won't get her passport back in time.

She is very likely to be refused entry if she has just been refused. What visa did she apply for exactly and why was it refused?

She applied for a general Visitor VISA, she was refused on the grounds of insufficiency funds to cover her stay and not enough reason to return.

Since then she has got a credit card and upped her bank balance as well as getting a letter of appointment from her new employer on a company letterhead, with a company stamp.

Why did she apply for a visa in the first place if she didn't need one? Having done so and being refused she should have stuck with it and applied again. She will be subjected to a much more searching and lengthy examination on arrival in the UK than she did when she applied in her own country, and the presumption will be to refuse. She may be able to overcome this, but there isn't much you can do to assist other than answering any questions you may be asked.

Is it worth getting a immigration lawyer on standby to council her in the interview ?

Also she is flying from South Africa, could she go to the British High Commission in Pretoria and do a same day application there ?

for the money that would cost you she might as well lose the money you paid for the flights and apply again for the visit visa. Given that she is coming to visit her boyfriend especially they may consider that she does not have sufficient ties in Namibia. Why didn' she provide proof of her employment before?

Visitors aren't given the option to have a lawyer speaking on their behalf at the Immigration entry point.

So all she can do really is state her case and supply the new supporting docs, and all I can do is sit in the lobby and answer any questions :(

and pray, alot.
