My Son turns 18 in April
My Daughter 16 in April

The form asks for 5 years worth of UK addresses, do I only enter the relevant 3 years?
What about life in the UK test? (I recall this not being required if under 18 when they apply.)
What about the English language test? (I recall this not being required if under 18 when they apply.)

Section 3(5)
To qualify under this section the child and their mother and father should have
lived in the UK (or British Overseas Territory if born after 21 May 2002) for a
3-year period ending with the date the application is received. And the child and
their parents should be physically present in the UK or the British Overseas
Territory at the start of that period.

The child and their parents must not have been absent from the UK (or the
British Overseas Territories if appropriate) for more than 270 days during the
3-year residential period. There is no discretion to disregard absences greater
than 270 days.

If the parents’ marriage or civil partnership has ended or they are legally
separated then only the child and one parent has to satisfy the residence
requirement.

Both parents must consent to the child being registered as a British citizen. If
one of the parents has died then only the consent of the surviving parent is
required.

A child registered under this section will be a British citizen otherwise than
by descent, which means they can pass on citizenship to their own children

I am starting the application now.

Date you gained settled status in the UK
Is this date of arrival or date visa was approved?

• The passport issued by South Africa for Applicant

• Proof of Father's parental responsibility for Applicant. is birth certificate sufficient?

• Proof of Mothers parental responsibility for applicant

• Proof of Mrs s parental responsibility can include:

• • A copy of the birth certificate
  • A parental responsibility order, care order, adoption order or special guardianship order.

• A letter of consent from Applicant's parent(s) or legal guardian(s) is there any specific wording that needs to be contained in the letter?

• Applicant's birth certificate (showing details of both parents)

• If Applicant has a passport then provide this with your application. If Applicant does not have a passport then you must provide another officially-issued identity document. This could include an official travel document or national identity card.

• Applicants parent's foreign (non-EU) passport or alternative evidence of residence
  If told us that their parent is a British citizen then you must provide us evidence of their citizenship. This could include their British passport, a certificate of citizenship or their birth certificate.

• If told us that their parent is settled in the UK then you must provide us evidence of their settled status. This could include a BRP, a letter from the Home Office, an endorsement in their passport or another document certifying permanent residence. Would the passports cover these?

• Evidence that parents lived in the UK for a period of 3 years immediately before the date of application would confirmation of our flights in be ok to cover the period prior to moving into a rental property be sufficient for this?

• Applicants grandparents' marriage certificate again, is this necessary as both parents are British, my parents are still in South Africa.

• Two referee declarations for Mr xxxxxxz

• Applicants current biometric residence permit (BRP)

Nothing really, it could be as brief or otherwise as you like.

Thank you, I have now completed the application, and on printing the application see that one of the referee's needs to know my son in a professional manner. like a teacher, the problem is, Covid happened in 2020 so he hardly attended school in his year 10, and only spent a year there for year 11 and has now been at college for 18 months.

The referee's we have added are both civil servants and family friends.
one is a police officer and the other a prison warden.
any advice would be appreciated.

But the email is requesting bank card details:
Card number, expiration date and card security code.
This feels unsafe.
Any thoughts? Is this legit or a scam?

This is normal, not a scam - once child turns 18 during the MN1 application process they need to pay the ceremony fee of £80.

Hi jkproperties, I hope your application went successfully. Can I ask for your experience:

(1) What documents did you submit for "Evidence that parents lived in the UK for a period of 3 years immediately before the date of application", and how did you space them out during the 3 years? I wonder if the P60 is a good document because it doesn't show the dates of employment.

(2) Did you submit the applicants grandparents' marriage certificate?
