Hi team,

Hope you are all well.

At the outset, thanking Zimba and Vinny again for all the help, including the push to seek discretion for ILR application. Can't thank you guys enough!

Now, it's time for naturalisation. I'll be completing 12 months from the date of grant of ILR through dependant route on 09.10.2025. Just started filling out the form in advance so that I can submit on the very eligible date.

I have a could of questions needs your kind guidance.

1. Mother's Date of Birth: To my knowledge, her date of birth was XX.XX.XXXX, sadly, oh her passport, the date is different. On all of my previous applications, I gave the DOB that was on my mind. Now, my friend told me that I'd have to attach the ID documents (passports being the available one) of both parents and their wedding certificates along with the application. Just conscious that the date I gave earlier were different, what course of action can I do?

2. I were granted ILR grating discretion for my stay outside of the UK exceeded 180 days. But the days outside UK rule for naturalisation is fully compliant as I didn't spend 450 days outside the UK in the last 5 years and not outside for 90 days in the last year. Would the ILR by discretion a problem ?

3. Referees - my first referee is an ACCA accountant and has a valid British Passport. My second referee is also an ICAEW accountant and a Biritsh citizen, but her passport expired. Would this be a problem ?

Many thanks,
J

1. Your friend is talking nonsense. You are NOT claiming citizenship through a parent and do NOT havr to upload all tbeir documents. Their details are irrelevant and have no bearing on your application. Please, do yourself a favour and stop listening to friends etc. The official guidance is clear on the requirments and documents.

2. ILR and citizesnship are two completely different processs and rules. IlR is ILR. You are overthinking.

3. You only need one referee that is British and over 25, preferably with a valid passport. The professional referee can be any nationality.

My dad had two DOB (one used before but later on was corrected).
So the info I provided for my dad is different between my prev. student visa and citizenship application

Then nothing happened and my citizenship was granted.

Thanks very much. Can I say 'No' to the question 'Does the referee have a British Passport' ?

Thanks a lot for sharing this with me. Feeling more confident now.

Is your friend planning to get a new passport? If so I would wait until she has a new passport, just for ease for the HO to verify her identity.

You need two referees that meet two different requirements.

The first should be a professional referee, which need to either have specific jobs or be a member of a professional organisation. This referee does npot need to have a passport.

The second referee can be any British citizen with a passport. This referee needs to have a British passport.

Which type of referee are you referring to?
