MY IMMIGRATION STATUS EFFECT IF MY CHILD IS BRITISH CITIZEN

Post by MEINA » Sat May 10, 2008 12:48 am

I'm a work permit holder working in the UK. I have a English partner who fathered my child born in 2007. Will my status be effected? In which way will it be? Will I be able to change my work visa leave to remain to be ILR or something without limit.
looking forward to your reply.

If you are not married, but have proof that you have been living with your partner for at least two years, then you may switch to FLR(M) (295D). Subsequently, you may apply for SET(M) (295H).

If the baby's British father is named on your baby's birth certificate, then your baby is automatically a British citizen. Unfortunately, I cannot yet see how your baby's status helps you at this time. If the baby's father was looking after your child, then you may be able to apply for entry clearance Exercising right of access to a child resident in the United Kingdom.
