Accidentally overstayed my spouse visa

I am an Australian living in the Uk on a spouse visa. Unfortunately I have recently been quite ill and as such did not notice my visa expired in early January. Does anyone have any experience of what my options are now having overstayed?

Just apply for SET(M) now, LIUK will be required. You are technically an overstayer however, just apply for SET(M) by post and you should be fine. Cohabitation proof and last 3 months wage slips with corresponding bank statements should be supplied.

Write a covering letter explaining that you were ill and that SET(M) does not require extant leave.

Yes, technically it does and if you were you could face prosecution and your employer fined.
