Regarding Naturalisation for dependent

Post by satya78 » Sun Mar 09, 2014 11:32 pm

Hi there,
I need some help here before applying for naturalisation for me and my wife.
Me and my wife received the ILR on 2nd March 2013 and now we are eligible of naturalisation. My wife is in India since 31 dec 2013 and will be back on 15th April.During last year I was only away for 1 month outside UK.I am planning to apply for naturalisation in April.
Can I also apply for my wife too as she will away for more than 90 days in last one year?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Regards
Satya

You can't apply for your wife. She needs to apply herself. There is no concept of dependant for naturalisation. Each applicant is an individual application (although there is a reduced fee for a married couple applying together).

That absence is 105 days. It would require discretion (it would have been better if this was less than 100 days) but assuming it's her only absence in the last 1year and that she meets the other requirements (5 years residence etc, less than 450 days etc), I believe it will be fine.
