Ukrainian wife has ILR since June 2011 want's BC

Post by katmoda » Wed Mar 26, 2014 6:24 pm

Hi

I apologise in advance if this is a dumb or a question that has been answered recently.

My Ukrainian born wife has ILR (passed the Life in UK test) in June 2011
Natalie has been with me in the UK since July 2009 without any gaps... We had a couple weeks vacation in Crimea (her birth place) a few times since but we always travelled together so no time apart. We also now have a 2.8 year old daughter who was born in the UK and has a UK passport.

My question is whether my wife will be required to take any any additional English Exam, as I have read many conflicting reports on this.

My gut says no she does not; however I would like clarification from some people with the knowledge.

Many thanks in advance

Gary

English Level B1 test certificate required for citizenship application. The rules changed in October 2013.

Does she have a degree taught in English??

If you are British, why did your wife not apply earlier as she only needed 3 years residence? She could have applied in 2012.

If her English is quite good, she only needs the test, she does not need to attend a whole course. The approved list and other information is in the link below :

Many thanks for the list

Her spoken English is good... Far better than a lot of "workers" here, although her written words & grammar is far from good enough at present i think... :|

It is a listening and speaking level B1 requirement per page 5 of the AN form for naturalisation, so she should be good to go for the test :-)

See also page 13 of the AN Guide :
