FLR(HSMP) degree question

Post by ripvanwinkle » Sun Jul 22, 2007 12:51 am

Hi All,
I am going to be due for hsmp extension under new rules in 3 months.
Originally I had applied providing both my masters degree and bachelors degree.

Now I have my bachelors degree confirmed by NARIC. But my masters is not. I can get the 75 points under new rules with just the bachelors since my income points are 45.

My question is that is it necessary that I apply with my masters since I had originally applied with it or just apply with my bachelors giving my NARIC recoginition letter. The FLT(HSMP) only allows one degree to be entered and the guidance notes say that only one qualification can be used to claim points.

Not sure about that.
But if we apply using our Masters degree for HSMP in the initial application, then while applying for FLR(HSMP) cant' we use the masters degree? Coz.. the HO will be having the scanned copies of data while we applied.

One more qn. This is an extra addition.
If we apply for FLR(HSMP) using the masters degree, then how we can claim the English language proficiency. Can we still show the one used for initial HSMP application? OR Is it mandatory to take the IELTS exam?

Please suggest.

The problem is that the Masters Degree I have is not recognized by NARIC while my bachelors degree is. Since HSMP(FLR) form only allows one degree to be used to calim points (and it says in Guidance Notes also) I was thinking to apply with just Bachelors and not to use the Masters.
My concern is that since I had Originially applied with Masters Degree (Under old rules) is it mandatory for me to use the same degree in extension?
Would home office ask me why I am not claiming points for higher degree which I had originally used to apply?

Submit the bachelor's degree information for both qualifications and English language instruction; there's nothing that says that you need to submit a comprehensive picture of your education. Indeed, in the caseworker guidance notes, it indicates that once an applicant has met the English language requirement and the points threshold, there's no need for them to continue scoring the application. Likewise, if you don't need the master's degree to meet the 75 point threshold, there's no need to submit documentation of it in this FLR application (presumably you submitted it in the initial application because you needed the points then).

Hi Gordon,

So you mean to say that I have submitted Masters degree for claiming points during initial HSMP application. I provided a letter from the Bachelor Degree Instituition for English proficiency.

Now, In my FLR application, I can still show my Masters degree and claim point for that.

In addition do i need to take any IELTS for proving the English language requirement? OR still i can use the earlier letter from Bachelor Degree Instituition.

Please clarify?

What would be the point of taking the IELTS if you've already submitted evidence that the undergraduate degree was taught in English ?
