ILR dependent adopted or not

Post by wunit5times » Sat Apr 19, 2014 4:24 pm

hi guys

my step daughter is about to apply ILR as dependant of me and my wife who already has ILR.

she was adopted years ago by my wife and her ex.

Do I tick applying as adopted dependent under 18 box or just the normal as dependent box?

I believe previously it was just as normal dependent as I didn't adopt her myself but I can't quite recall. We're using the special application service at sheffield next week

thanks

If she has not been adopted by you then it is 'normal dependent'

My daughter and I were dependent on my husband (her step dad) so I know what you mean, it is very confusing sometimes, but we got our ILR, with her as a normal dependent, and subsequently our citizenship too.

Good luck with your applications.
