What was the offence? I gather you're settled or British?

I'm British, Citizen and born here. My offense in the U.S. was a threat of Arson.

It would perhaps depend on the type of job you applied for, see should I declare my conviction?

So it is likely that my deportation will show on my CRB in the UK?

No it's unlikely it will show up on a DBS check. However, you may be required to declare such a conviction abroad to the DBS who will in turn interpret it. Not all jobs require DBS checks and you need to be sure exactly what the sentence imposed was. Remember that the ROA 1974 makes it clear that within the UK a conviction by a court outside Great Britain is to be treated in exactly the same way as a conviction before a British court.

Hi all,

Look I'm not sure if I am posting in the right place, but it is to do with spent/unspent convictions.

Well, I have submitted my application and documents, but I forgot about a minor traffic infringement which occurred here in Australia - it was failing to give way. I didn't go to court or anything, and it was nearly 7 years ago. Our police service here also only offers traffic certificates dating back 5 years, thus, I am unable to obtain documentation for it anyway, at this stage.

What should I do? I'm freaking out now because I don't have time to have to documents returned and then resent. I obviously wasn't trying to withhold info, it just honestly escaped my mind untill several hours after postage.

I'm applying for a tier 5 youth visa.

Any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated!
Also if there is a more appropriate area to post, without having to create a new thread, just point me there.
Cheers.

Hi any one there for help?
I believe it is possible for a person to request and check if they have any unspent convictions. This is similar to the case where jobs mandate a person to be Security Cleared. The options are

1. Basic security certificate (thats shows unspent convictions) which a person can apply to check their own details provided they have lived in the UK for the last 12months.
2. Enhanced certificate showing spent and unspent convictions but only possible if a company/organization requests it. You cannot request this
3. The top most level for which I forgot the name but its not relevant.

For all those who are not sure if they have an unspent conviction, just like in my case (got Speeding Fine from Court as was on International DL hence no fixed penality but direct court letter), its best to check in this manner so you know where you stand. Those who also got points on their license but not sure if its a conviction can check this

Hope this helps
