chaging address

Post by friday » Thu Apr 24, 2014 12:00 pm

Hi All,

There is a chance that I will change my address after submission of my application for BC by NCS. Will this cause problems?

I am moving to a different city within England.

I guess the next steps after application are: personal interview then a ceremony. I am not sure if the change of my address will affect the location of the personal interview or the ceremony.

Is it better to move location between the application submission and the inerview? or between the interview and the ceremony?

Thank you in advance.

The only interview there is is when you apply for British passport.
I am sometimes wrong.

thanks for your help.

I thought that I will have the interview before the ceremony. Sorry for the confusion.

I will apply through NCS at the beginning of August 2014. Then I plan to relocate to another city in Sept. 2014. I have two options:

1- stay at my current place until I get my approval letter. Then apply for ceremony at council within my current place. OR

2- move to new city in Sept. and write the address of the council in the new location in the application form. So I can do the ceremony near my new address.

But I am not sure how to update/change the address when I move in Sept.

may you please advice.

Or you could wait and submit your application once you have moved in September 2014.

I just want to finish this as quickly as possible and I do not want to waste one month.

I quickly checked the timeline and it seems that I expect to get the british passport around Oct/Nov. 2014 if I apply in August and all goes well.

For the sake of 1 month, I would wait and apply once you have moved to your new address to avoid any potential delays or queries. It is a lot of money to fuss about over.

The alternative is to move sooner. How far apart are the two towns??

I applied in October 2012 and got approval within 5 weeks and ceremony 2 weeks after that.

The slight delay in last years August/September applications is due to a rush to submit before the rules changed in October 2013.

Thank you for your help.

Moving sooner is an option. But it might be easier to relocate later.

I am thinking to apply in August, then wait until I get my approval letter and attend the ceremony within current council. Then relocate (around end of Sept.) and apply for passport within the new council.

By the way, I am moving from North to South (4 hr by train) due to job relocation.

Thank you again CR001 for your advice.

passports are not done by the council but you can apply for a passport wherever you are, pick up form at any post office.

remember that approval could take longer. you could do mail redirection with royal mail too.
