Tier2 to ILR application query

Could any expert help me please?
I am on Tier2 general visa working on temporary contract and my current contract ends 1 month after my 5 year fullfillment on Tier 2 visa, As I understand I need to produce a letter from employer that they still need my service. But would it affect my ILR application if the employer mentions that I am on temporary contract and it finishes in a month.
My timings are as below
started job/entered UK on 19/08/2009
contract ends on 31/08/2014
I plan to apply within 28 days before the 5th year completion day i.e. on 31/07/2014

I did some study and it seems like they won't honour ILR application when the employment is ending so soon,I may have to extend employment contract, Is there any guideline to this as to whether I will need to apply for FLR or can I directly apply for ILR when my Job is extended? I would appreciate any comments please.
