Tier 1 General - Dependant Requirement for Partner

Post by kasunj » Mon May 12, 2014 10:56 am

Hi Experts please advise me,

I am Currently under Tier 1 (General) Visa In UK. I have been residing in the UK since 2007. I appiled for Tier 1 General visa for the first time in 2010. My wife currently resides in Sri Lanka and wish to join me soon.

My Question is regarding the maintanace of funds before the Visa Application.

On the web site it mentions the following:
If I have stayed in the UK for more that 12 Months the maintanace of funds must be 600 + 900 = £1500 for a period of 90 days.

I have maintained £1500 on my wife's account in Sri Lanka for 90 days instead of my account. Does this meet the the requirements for the Application. I thought this will be the case as my wife will be applying for the visa from Sri Lanka. I am really concerned now thinking the £900 should be in my account in the UK and £600 on my wifes account in Srilanka. Can you please advise.

Many Thanks,

Kasun

Do not worry, as long as you show maintenance funds consistent with the exchange rate amounting to £1500, this should be okay.

Thanks for your response, But i spoke to an adviser on +44 (0)344-991-9222 the workpermit.com advise line given on this forum. The person I spoke to said the Money should be in my account as I am the sponsor.

I am really worried now. :(

I set up a Fixed deposite in my wifes name for LKR 3,50,000 about 6 months ago in Sri Lanka. I am going to speak to the bank Manager and ask if he could add my name to the account as a Joint account. I really dont want to take any chances as I am spending a lot of money for the application fee.

What do you think?

It should be ok. But If you show UK statements, it will easier to validate for the HO. So preference will be UK statements on your name. But it wont give any damage for your wifes application.
