Traffic offence - no insurance applying for IRL

Hi , today I was practising driving in my friend's car as I am going to appear for my driving test in two days , I was stopped by police in the road and asked me show the learner driving license and insurance to drive that car , my friend was having license and insurance for that car, I wasn't aware that need to have an insurance for driving that car, because I didn't take any insurance for driving my driving institute's car.

But now I received a ticket for no insurance from the police although I have politely explained about my unawareness about insurance and asked many apologies for this issue. I didn't make any mess up like hitting or damage anything, the police officer told me that i'll be receiving letter from the court/police for further proceedings.

I m going to apply my ILR with my wife and kid on Feb 2016 2nd week, right now I am in Tier1 General and i have extended visa on Feb 2013 and i got visa for 3 years and the next due will be on 2016 Feb 2nd week, now I would like to know whether this issue will affect my ILR application for myself and family.

It should not so long as it's not recorded on your record. You'll have to inform them of an intended prosecution, it may not take long if you admit guilt.

Thanks for the reply. Actually they gave a ticket, in the ticket they it was written that I need to wait for the next letter. They may give fixed penalty or point or both. It wasn't done intentionally. Done it without my knowledge.

So if I psy fine or got points then it will affect my ilr?

True. I agree that I made that mistake. However I didn't do it deliberately to escape from the insurance cost. Let's see. I will let everyone know about the punishment. It might help someone.

thanks. If we get say driving points 3 points because of over speeding, then will it affect ILR 10 years?

I am only currently dealing with the similar issues. I got 7 points and £500 fine for AC10 and CD10 issues, I am currently thinking of going for ILR in June 2014 as well. My prosecution letter and the actual prosecution took nearly 5 months and both offences are appearing on my PNC as well.

Just a minor related point, but you do in fact pay for insurance on the driving institute's car. It's just assimilated into the cost, so you don't realize that that's part of what you're paying for.

Hi All,

I received a letter from Essex police with a fixed penalty 6 points and 300 pounds fine.

They wrote its a conditional offer. I am not sure if it will affect my PR. they didn't call me for court.

Please give me your guidance.
