well, It was expected, When they took over the office, the country was bankrupt and they have to do a hard job of bring it back to right track, they have to make cut everywhere and hence this result. The problem is that some TDs won their seats making false promises such as one said, "Frankfurt's Way or Labour's Way"!
Fine Gael did everything to bring back the economy working again. e.q. Richard Bruton trying hard to bring international investment into Ireland, unemployment down to about 11% from 14%, former Alan Shatter did hard work to reform justice ministry. We all know how capable was former justice minister, still he had to resign in very difficult circumstances, only fault of him was why he asked Garda commissioner about the whistle blowers?? who-else he'd asked to enquire about??
Now back to immigrants problems, such as delay in processing citizenship applications, it goes back to times of Mr. McD who was probably so much annoyed by delivering babies in Ireland by Pragy-immigrants and thus brought citizenship referendum & made all application processing delayed as long he could do and did his best to tight immigration and making immigrants life difficult as much he could. By doing that he thought he will win electrol?? What happened in 2007? He and his party wiped out of the Irish political atmosphere! Their one of Ministers Ms. Har. who did made work permit regime hard for Non-EU nationals, after 2011 elections, she started working for Banglore-based company. I hope she got her Work Permit easily!
Having said that, some of victims knocked High Courts, Supreme courts doors and some went to EU courts and courts decided in the favor of many victims and Shatter's office have to implement those judgements such as jumbrano judgements and judges criticising dept for so much delay in processing applications etc.
And now Sinn Fien, If they won their seats by making false promises, you may guess what would happen in next elections.
