Claiming Child Benefit

Post by feesuth » Mon Jun 02, 2014 9:25 am

Hi,

Both I and my partner were born here. When we had our child we both only had our birth certificates only and believed we were not subject to immigration control. My partner filled out child benefit form it was granted . I was granted my british citizen about some days after .When my partner applied she was giving leave to remain with no recourse to public funds. we're married now after some research into what public funds were i found out she may be claiming wrongly so i told her to contact the child benefit people to stop. Plese would this affect her leave to remain by any chance or would we get a fine thanks

You should claim child benefit in your name, tax credits in joint names.
