Advise on filling up the application (EU member)

Post by pjanec » Mon Jun 09, 2014 6:12 pm

Hi all!

I have started my British citizenship application and it is going well, but I also have come across few dilemmas. If anybody can help me with them, I will be very much grateful:

1. My first name is PAWEŁ with a Polish letter Ł at the end, that not exist in English alphabet. Normally, I put my name as PAWEL, e.g. UK driving licence, however in this instance, should I use Polish spelling as it is in my Polish passport?

2. Do I have to send original documents, e.g. identification documents or can copies certified by a Council Checker be alright?

3. Current passport/travel document number section. Should I put the number of a document that I am sending, e.g. Polish Identity Card or British driving licence or my Polish passport number?

4. Knowledge of the language - can I use ESOL certificate from my university application (2010) even though it has expired? What else can I do if I receive my BSc degree in July 2014 and I want to apply for the citizenship in June 2014? A simple letter from the university is sufficient enough?

5. Country visited. Do I have to exactly state all the dates and countries I have visited, even it was mainly in EU and there is no stamp in my passport?

6.Section 3: Good Character Requirement. If I am a full-time student what should I tick and what business address should I give?

7. I have been in full time education (sandwich course with hospital placement) from 01.10.2010 until now (4 years) and beforehand worked for 3 years as a chemist, however I do not recall applying for WRS at all. Is that a problem at all if I have NIN from 2006, all payslips and P60s?

Thank you very much for help.

PJ

1. No.
2. If you're applying through NCS they will take copies for you. Otherwise you need to send originals.
3. What exactly are you sending? Use that document's number. If you sending both ID and Passport then I'd say use passport's number. Driving license isn't a travel document.
4. Not sure. Letter from university confirming that you have passed your degree and due to graduate.
5. Yes or Have you previously applied for PR card? (EEA3)
6. I thought you've completed your degree? Then you're not a student - you're unemployed (which is fine by them). Unless, you work? Then you're an employee.
7. This is a big one: To have been exercising your Treaty right as a student you must have been studying (that's an obvious one) and also you should have had a private comprehensive insurance or EHIC card issued by your home country covering the duration of your studies. Otherwise you won't meet residence requirement.
Evidence of exercising Treaty Rights for 5 years for the relevant EEA national. This may include:
o Confirmation of tax payment for individuals who are self-employed/business person
o Confirmation of payslips/P60 for workers
o Confirmation of enrolment and attendance of an accredited course for Students
o Evidence of funds and comprehensive sickness insurance for self sufficient persons and students
o Evidence of state pension (not occupational pension) for retired person.
o Medical report if permanently incapacitated
I'm afraid your years as a worker won't count towards your time in this country since you hadn't been registered with WRS. Your years as a student will only count if you have had the insurance mentioned above. Which won't be enough anyway because you started your course in 2010. If you have had it then you need 2 more years...
